“Someone left the cake out in the rain. I don’t think I can take it as it took so long to make it, and I’ll never have that recipe again” The sad news hit today, we have lost another music legend and a Queen of that. The Queen of Disco, Donna Summer passed away and I for one felt something. Donna Summer. I mean really. Donna Summer died. The news hit me like a disco ball falling and smashing on the dance floor. My love affair with Donna started from a live DVD I bought years ago. It was an impulse buy and I haven’t looked back since. I played that DVD to death and have since of course bought few albums and...
The Ebony Suite
posted by Marko
This week I was invited to attend an exclusive preview of The May Fair Hotel‘s new suite, The Ebony Suite and being a hotel obsessed I decided that I needed to go see what they were serving. The Ebony Suite is the latest suite to be added to the hotels 12 signature suites. All different, all fabulous. I must admit I am truly impressed with this one. It’s the perfect get away for a fun (dirty) weekend. Seriously. The suite I decked out in the latest gear (obviously). Two bedroom heaven as I am now going to be calling it. The lounge area is perfect for drinks with friends (did you know that you can book a suite for a time period...
Day 50

Its been a great journey so far. I’ve lost a total of 9kg (20lbs) in 7 weeks. I’m starting to each the bottom of the curve where the ratio of muscle gain vs fat loss is changing. I’ll start measuring body fat from next week too. It almost seems like I’m trying to...

Exfoliate

I am perfectly aware that it has been raining non stop for months, however this does not mean that you should not be taking care of your skin. Enter little exfoliation action. I have searched high and low for the best scrubbers out there and below are my favorites (so far). This is of course subject to change at any second, but for now these three I am loving. Loving. Heavenly Scrubs Clarins MEN Origins Bobbi Brown Clarins MEN: The new kid on the block. Clarins has always impressed me with most of the skin care...
Granma

I can still smell the apple tea that she discovered when she and granpa visited Turkey on their 40th wedding anniversary. I can still taste the unpeeled carrot sticks that used to sit in a glass of water on the kitchen counter behind the coffee machine. I can still see her, sitting on their...

Am I fabulous yet? BACK IN THE GAME I suppose you could say, that like all journos, I am best motivated by a big, scary, looming deadline. So as I checked the scales, checked the calendar, and checked the scales again, I realised that I was, metaphorically speaking – in the shit. With...
Cowley Manor

I have been living in the UK for a lot longer than I would like to admit and yet have never really seen any of it. Living in London has its advantages, you can fly pretty much anywhere in the world very easily. World really is our oyster and then some. Few months back I was thinking how shameful it was that I have been in this country for the past 14 years and I have not been to the Lake District, Wales, Cornwall, Cotswolds etc. So, this year its the year of the UK. First up, the Cotswolds. Done. As I was looking for somewhere to stay on this excursion, I decided that it not only needed to be pure luxury mixed with country elegance we , but...
Day 38

I’ve lost another 1kg. Total loss in 5 weeks: 8kg (17.5lbs). As we’ve seen with the weather, it’s not always sunshine and blue skies around. I had a challenging week: loads of travel, a 14 hour day on Thursday, a mild cold and lack of complex carbohydrates had me feeling like a zombie by friday. It left me frustrated as I only squeezed in three workouts for the week, which at least included my great hotel workout. I took the weekend off from gym. Thorpe Park on saturday with friends. I did well: for lunch I had a Burger King wrap (284cal) a diet coke and my first ever cheat chips. (Kiddy size). Saturday night I let...

Its 9.30am on a Monday morning and I have nowhere to go. Currently sitting in the garden (just so the puppy is outside) and thinking about what happens next? My so-called life, me and Clare Danes. Last week I finished my full-time job at a very well-known media company, after four years of...

Its been a month now. Wow. I’ve learnt that the most importantly muscle is indeed your brain. It’s the only thing that’s stands in between “I can do this” and “I can’t do this”. This applies to: Saying no/yes to that chocolate bar Having a great...
CAMPANIA

When have you ever eaten tomato sauce just because it was that good? Well, I experienced this the other day when visiting Campania Gastronomia on Columbia Road. As you all know, we live in fairly close to Columbia Road and visit the flower market frequently and we have stopped at Campania on few occasions, coffee and a Panini to go and so forth. This week we decided to give it a proper go and go there for lunch. Ladies and gents, I have discovered the best little Italian in East London, without a doubt. I’ll have one of each Coffee and panini to...
